In 1972 Nike’s guru, Bill Bowerman, knew that athletes needed a well-cushioned shoe that could take the punishment of 100 miles per week pounding the pavement.

This summer Nike chose to create a collection with legendary French textile designer Paule Marrot Editions. Paule Marrot’s textiles were heavily influenced by Marrot’s early studies as a painter under impressionists such as Pierre-August Renoir.
